CASE STUDY
Automated Aviation System Plan
Client
North Central Texas Council Of Governments
Dallas, TX
GCR has been commissioned with developing an automated aviation system plan as part of the Regional General Aviation and Heliport Systems Planning project for the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG).
The system will have human and system external and internal users. The primary internal human users will be the NCTCOG staff. Internal systems are those systems which are controlled by the NCTCOG or the consultant team, and which can be interfaced into the data management system. Potential internal system users could include the FAA 5010Web database, which could interchange data in both directions between the two systems. The AirportIQ Data Center, which houses an extensive amount of operational activity data for the subject airports, can also push data into the data management system.
Human external users include airport sponsors and their designated organizations (engineers, consultants, etc.). These users can consult the system to access reference information about the facility, as well as input capital improvement funding (CIP) and related funding requests. External system users are those systems which could be interfaced, but which the consultant team has no control over the nature of the interface. Potential external system users could include the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS/SOARS), the Terminal Area Forecast (TAF) database, and the FAA’s Aircraft registration database. These national level systems will provide data into the data management system.
