Web-Base Airport Security Badging Application
Client
Massachusetts Aeronautics Commission
Following the events of 9/11, the State of Massachusetts Aeronautics Commission elected to implement a secure, consolidated, web-based security badging application for all airports in its state system.
Following an evaluation of available technology available on the market, the
Aeronautics Commission selected GCR to develop a browser-based program that provides authorized security personnel from every airport in the state's system with the ability to create, edit, and print an official security badge, including text and graphics, for individuals needing access to secure areas within the airport or Aircraft Operating Area (AOA).
The program allows entry of aircraft specifics (make, model, registration number, etc.) and other pertinent information relative to a pilot's history and based-airport location for pilot applicants. Contractor applicants needing automotive access to the AOA can have badges made which include vehicle specifics (driver's license number, issuing state, etc.).
The system allows airport personnel to upload photographic images of each applicant to the database. This provides a single source location for all records, statistical and graphic, needed to issue security badges for all facilities in the
State of Massachusetts' airport system.
In addition to the core application, GCR also provided a
handheld PDA application for use by LEOs, Operations, and Security officials inspecting the activities at an airport. This application contains all the relevant information on each badged individual to determine their credentials, status, and access privileges.
